here's an interesting topic of discussion (maybe). on "steppin' up with karen", i think i was able to get a reasonably fast time with respect to my ability because of a subtle tweak of my step back down. so the move would go like this: step up with one leg, toss the ball against the wall, and then as the ball was coming down i began my step down such that one leg was on the floor and one was still on the box at the moment the ball returned to me. (clear as mud?) the advantage is that with a proper toss i was able to stop most of the ball's downward velocity with my knee, only having to use energy to stabilize and regrip.
so the question is, is catching part of "the point" of the exercise (which i am missing)? or is it just the stepping and throwing? during the WOD i had two eagle eyes watching me (which i do appreciate, dan and mike) and they didn't say anything so i continued. i just wanted to bring it up for opinions.
mike said this was "savvy", which i'm going to take as a good thing. :)
Just kidding. I think the point is to get your weight and the ball's weight UP (fight gravity, right mike?) and the catch is up to the finesse of the athlete. i know when i do straight wall balls, my form deteriorates to the point of not being able to catch the ball at all, and i still count those reps.
good point about the form as fatigue sets in. i suppose that it would be just as legal to toss the ball and just let it fall to the ground? of course, in a regular wall ball this would mess up your time pretty bad so you wouldn't want to do it. but it would still be legal?
ADVANTAGE LEE! I felt like I couldn't go fast enough at times, maybe stepping down while the ball is coming down would have helped speed things up. Great observation Lee.

Just thought I would check in- 150 step ups? repeat on each leg? Dad
150 total. Break it up as you see fit. 3...2...1... go... the clock is ticking... (reps do not count if you miss the target).
WOD as RX'd 16:58.
as rx'd: 12:15.9
