Congratulations to Chris Poole for winning Saturday's Wod in the Park
Who knew, after watching his jump roping exhibition, that he could run like that!

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterdbl

ryan, what site did you get your shoes from?

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteryannvc

I'm still in Nashville...Wish I could be there for this. Yesterday I did Lynne, 5 rnds AMRAP BW bench press and AMRAP of pull ups.

Although you may be able to dig around a little and find them cheaper.

Upon hearing the news that Poole had taken the WOD, David Yann declared, and I quote, "Poole should never win a WOD, especially a WOD with runnning in it". Haterade, anyone?

Snap.

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRyan B

Looking forward to this, though I will be a little later than normal which means Mike won't need to open up early.

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCasey

Thanks DBL. I noted the one time I was less than embarassing on the Saturday WOD was the one time there was no picture or official acknowlegement that it even occurred.

Hate the game, not the playa, He-Yann. We can't all be mythical creatures.

Time to go heavy, with or without weight lifting shoes.

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPoole

Was no one else at the free wod? Poole can do handstand push-ups all day, but dang kids, running? Was the FBI still chasing him? Poole, glad you got a shirt. Interested to see what you and Berube lift today...

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteryannvc

You make good points.

As I ran I just asked myself, WWYD. What would Yann do?

Berube should break 1,000 today.

Has anyone seen the 2:19 Fran on the main site yet? Unreal!

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPrecise

isn't there a shorter one on there too? can't remember but i thought speal had a quicker time than that....

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLee C

It is my opinion that some of the shorter Fran times are done at the expense of form. There is a healthy debate on this among the CrossFit message boards. I won't dispute that guys doing 2:03 Fran's are peforming an incredible amount of work, but I guess I'd rather see a technically perfect 2:15 or 2:30, than some of these other performances. Again, just my opinion.

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMike

are you saying speal's wasn't technically correct? i don't recall whether or not his was sloppy. i do remember the crazy kipping, but nothing about his thruster form...

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLee C

Consideration of the proper form is certainly what keeps me from a 2:03 Fran time.

Strong work y'all. Today was a great day at the box. Several folks hit PR's and several were introduced to max effort work today. We now have a place from which to start moving onward and upward. Speal's Fran didn't strike me as sloppy or questionable. It was one of the last fast Fran's posted prior to the CF Games that sticks in my mind as being representative of cutting corners to post a bad-ass time.

We will be re-testing our CF Total in 6 weeks. That is Monday, September 22. This "deadline" will shape the nature of the programming in the intervening weeks. I'm personally planning on breaking 800 pounds. Today my total was 755- 335 DL, 275 Squat, 145 Shoulder Press (look familiar Coach Stout?). Be thinking about your goals... and let's do it!

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMike

Me thinks I should buy some of those fancy weightlifting shoes and start drinking some kool-aid. Congrats to Berube for being a beast.

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCasey

PR!!

DL - 345
BS - 210
SP - 125

gotta work that back squat. that will be where i get my gains in 6 weeks. don't know if i can do it but i'm gonna shoot for 250 next time... yikes..

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLee C

805, Press--175, DL--375, squat--255

My goal is 900 (200(ish)/400(ish)/300). I must improve my dreadful squat. I'm going to maintain it was simply a mental failure until the weight crushes me. Then I'll know it was a physical failure.

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPoole

I pr'ed as well, since this was the first time I did a full crossfit total. Previous deadlift PR was 185. Today: total: 440--deadlift 210, shoulder press 75, squat 155

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterkatrina

nice katrina!! that's a pretty significant increase on the DL. congrats!

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLee C

thanks lee!! :)

August 11, 2008 | Registered CommenterMikeAlley and Katrina

dang kids! Good work! I want some shoes too...

August 11, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteryannvc

640

dl-305 (PR)
sp-120
bs-215 (?) (Missed @ 225)

Smiling about the deadlift (1st time over 275)
Need to work on squat (Like above, this is where I think I'll find my gains)

I'd say we put Berube & his shoes up against the Liger...

August 12, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterdbl

Nice video. It would've been a lot cooler had I been wearing that Volunteer orange singlet I've got my eye on...

905

325 - BS
175 - P
405 - DL

I've never maxed on any of these lifts until yesterday. With six weeks of training I'd like to hit 375 BS, 205 P, and 495 DL. Or at least break 1000 total. On a completely related note, the shoes absolutely help. Once your feet are set they don't move, period.

"Poor form in the gym is caused by insufficient yelling." - Mark Rippetoe

August 12, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRyan B

how is your back today ryan? that's a lot of weight! Wish I could hve stayed and seen all the hard work...

I love seeing everyone work so hard. Reminds me of the sportsbarn when Spangler would sashay over to the bench press and ask me when I was joining the CLUB...

I think I'm going to start conversing only in Rippetoe quotes:

"If you are so inflamed that you can't train, and ibuprofen and fish oil help with inflammation, maybe you'd better take the fucking ibuprofen and fish oil. "
